Remember that thing we all were saying in December and January?

2020 Vision.

It was such a perfect way to epitomize what was going to be our year; the year what was really important came into crystal clear focus.

Then February rolled around, and then COVID-19.

And if you're like many of us, the big goals like "get X promotion" or "travel to X country" that went along with our plan suddenly weren't just difficult, they were impossible.

But take a second here, stick with me, this is going somewhere.

Behind all the things on our list, this was the overarching theme -- this was going to be the year what matters most deeply to us came into focus.

While there are some days I'm ready to call it quits on 2020 and head straight to 2021, it really hit me this morning.

Without exception, each of us has been given a gift this year.

2020 Vision.

Where every single outside distraction was removed for us.

And we could focus on what is really important.

Wholeness. Growth. Family.

I remember when my wife Julia, who is an optometrist, first fitted me for a pair of glasses -- how disorienting it was to actually see with the prescription I needed. The reality we're all feeling right now is similar to putting on the correct prescription after years of struggling with something that didn't fit.

It feels a little weird, a little uncomfortable. We're seeing things we almost don't want to see. (Hello Corona 15, from all the stress eating)

But as we adjust... we can move forward viewing our lives through a lens that works.

And that is a gift.
